Wable: the web on your table

I’ve said previously that convergence is becoming mainstream, and we often see new applications being brought from the web to our physical spaces, as connectivity becomes ordinary.

Wable

Wable is one of these projects, streaming the feeds from Plazo, Flickr, Last.fm and del.icio.us, visualizing

the changes of your web identity over time and create a physical link between your virtual and real identity (…) The interface consists of both a physical table and a web application. This direct feedback from your web identity is customizable and can be connected to any RSS feed”

.

The project was developed by Physical Interaction Lab, using Arduino, a ethernet connection and 4 small motors.

Porsche bloodlines

It’s not always about the visuals. Once in a while there comes a campaign that reminds us that we have more senses to be delighted. While audio advertising had his glory days with radio, it now is starting to fade, increasingly becoming an underrated medium.

The Internet is now offering a new stage for audio experiences, and following the previous post on Arcade Fire’s music video, we now have the latest work from Fantasy Interactive: Porsche Bloodlines, a countdown site for the new Cayenne GTS.

The site is largely based on the concept of the commercial (click video above to play), highlighting the remarkable sounds produced by the historic Porsche models. The 3 week project developed in Flash, has also inner sections including downloads, wallpapers an a audio challenge.

Cayenne GTS

Enjoy the site. With headphones, please.

Rorrim kcalb

There’s no typo in the post title, rest assured. If you come here often you should probably know who does this king of anagrams and subliminal stuff. Of course it’s my favorite band, Arcade Fire.

After their previous site BonlineB, the Montreal band scores again, using the web platform in novel ways to promote their work, at rorrimkcalb.com

Black Mirror

This time, for their single “Black mirror” (now you get the title?), we can toggle six different audio tracks while a fascinating video plays. For me, it was a bit strange to listen Win doing a solo track.

Extra tip: hit the space bar.

Ultimate break

From the folks who did Wilkinson’s Fight For Kisses - JWT, Wanda and grouek - there’s a new site for Nestle: Kit Kat, Ultimate Break (”Break Ultime”, en français).

Break Ultime

The integrated campaign picks the best of the viral from Wilkinson (i guess the previous success is paying off), and adds outdoor and more great awards. Even a space voyage if you register at the game site and find the promo codes.

Nestle Game France

Nestle is also asking consumers to share a video of their ultimate break. It seems though that they’re not having any luck, since there’s only the campaign commercial in the gallery.

If i had the time (which reminds me of my need for a true break) or the interest, i could dream of my teleportation to Namtso, the holy lake in Tibet. Oh, i wish it was that simple as eating a candy …

Pepsi makes me burp

At least online, with Arrotes.com.br, a new site by Almap BBDO for Pepsi Twist.

Arrotês.com.br

Using Text-To-Speech technology, the site allows you to type a sentence, that is burped after a educational pre-roll video. Gross, isn’t it? I’ll guess you won’t even bother to try it. Not enough? You can burp-a-friend too.

If you’re really “twisted”, why don’t you search for “burp” on YouTube? Guaranteed to make you sick after the first 10 videos.

Great Holiday cards

Another holiday season, another roundup of creative e-cards and online efforts.
Last year, it was OfficeMax that made the buzz with ElfYourself, back again this year with the new version of Scrooge yourself. Sounds a bit awkward, doesn’t it?

Perhaps not more than our bittersweet look when accepting that really ugly gift from a relative. No worries. You can comfort yourself this year at the Bad Gift Emporium, a place to share that un-special something that you couldn’t refuse.

Bad Gift Emporium

Check also the one from JWT and help to free Albert and his tongue that got frozen on a post. Or for something more cheerful, have a Dynamite Christmas with the Frost Family, and their tale of the Fourteen Christmas ringers (tip by Hugo).

Christmas Dynamite

A lot of charity going on with Snowglobe Boy by McKiney,
or the snowflakes helping the American Society for Cancer by Digitas Health. But the one that really got my attention was the one from Glue, with Lets Go to Lapland, sponsoring a live bike ride to Lapland, with worker’s doing the pedaling and raising funds to the Salvation Army.

For more live action, see also the Christmas greetings from All Known Questions Answered, with 2 hamsters powering the holiday lighting with wheel power.
Akqa Happy Christmas
How about that for a environmentally polite e-card? You can do more with these e-cards than to save some trees, like growing you own virtual tree, thanks to Wieden Kennedy London.

And last, my personal favorite from R/GA with some wicked Santa tatoos. Go on, get one of these !

OFFF Lisbon 2008

Now the circle is complete: http://www.offf.ws/.

OFFF Lisbon 2008

It’s a no-brainer to have their next edition at Lisbon, with so many Portuguese new media designers traveling to Barcelona since OFFF’s 1st edition, an obvious choice after Mexico and New York.

OFFF is the Post-Digital Creation Culture Festival, “exploring software aesthetics and new languages for interactive and visual expression” since 2001.

Past participants in OFFF include legends of graphic design and visual communication like Neville BrodyTomato, Kyle Cooper  or Stefan Sagmeister; acknowledged software artistssuch as Jared Tarbell, Lia, Casey Reas y Ben Fry, or Daniel Brown; innovators of the moving image like We work for Them, Tronic Studio, D-Fuse or Renascent; explorers of advanced interaction like Soda, James Paterson, Amit Pitaru or Craig Swann; and the most important names that have defined the aesthetics of the experimental and creative side of the Web: Joshua Davis, Yugo Nakamura, Hi-Res!, Josh Ulm, or Erik Natzke. The festival has also a special spot for the main names in the Spanish scene (Area3, Vasava, Innothna, Cocoe, Dani Granatta, La Mosca…) and for creators of surprising new kinds of sonic landscapes: Tujiko Noriko, The Vegetable Orchestra, Sutekh, Taylor Deupree, System, Daedelus, Stephan Mathieu, Kenneth Kirschner

A tip to organizers: how about changing the url to http://www.offf.ws/lx
So this year, instead of going to Barcelona, i’m staying home.

OFFF MOVES TO LISBON

OFFF Lisbon 2008 logo

Because the geography of post-digital art is based on continuous motion.

Because frontiers are just lines on a map.

Because OFFF is not about where. It is about when, what, who and how.

Because OFFF is a dynamic event.

Because the time is right for a change

And change means evolution

Because all of that, OFFF MOVES TO LISBON!
