Not only is “The Suburbs” their most mature album to date, but they keep pushing the limits on their relationship with new media. Their latest has a digital edition with lyrics embedded on album art, with links to extended info.

And now, this. An HTML5+Google Maps experiment for Google Chrome, playing “We Used to Wait” as a soundtrack to your hometown.

As Régine sings, “quit these pretentious things and just punch the clock”. Just go ahead and watch it.

And one thing i love about the fantastic genre is the extra care establishing their internet presence. With The Box website, i was particularly impressed with the visuals (and no, it was not about Cameron Diaz) and the masterful aural experience.

Along with the typical sections (downloads, cast, trailers, etc) i’m starting to detect some ARG inspiration integrated in movie websites, by launching some satellite experiences, in this case a teaser website at YouAreTheExperiment.com and even a comic book.

But why do i really blog this? Because my favorite band is doing the movie score along with their Final Fantasy (@OwenPallett) peers. No wonder i loved the audio on the website.

As Michael @bigspaceship said last week: we’re barely scratching the surface of what games can be – The Graveyard . This work by Freedom Partners is showing one of the paths that will be trailed by interactive the next few years. Remember that teenagers that spent their high school years playing X-box and PS2 are now becoming the workforce and expect to find the same playful experiences on the web.

Quite appropriately, it was done by a group of friends who work for internet video startups like Vimeo and CollegeHumor. And the girl at the beginning (Amanda) is really cute.

Boomstudios is a music recording studio owned by Pedro Abrunhosa, one of Portugal’s most famous singers and composers. The panorama experience is powered by a custom virtual reality engine Buro360, and while it’s only a glimpse of the full site, it’s already quite remarkable. With such great music and photography, i’m placing my bets on a soon to be FWA award.
